Today I did not parent

  1. Thank you for sharing this Daisy! It’s beautiful and I know exactly the experience you’re talking about.
I read somewhere that guilt is to Motherhood like grapes are to wine. We’ve all had these moments/days/weeks when there’s so much to get done and it feels like no matter what choice, someone loses out. Cue giant guilt fest! What I’ve learned is that guilt is all about two values coming into conflict. If I can remember (key part there) to take a look at what values are driving the conflict, I’m better able to choose the one I most want to honor right then or even come up with a creative way to honor both.
Wishing you all the best and I hope your toe is feeling better! (I believe those big toes are totally there as a reminder to reground ourselves.)

Thank you so much, Valerie, for your wonderful words. I’ll have to remember guilt-grape relationship next time I am in the throes of another bout of giant mommy-guilt. That big toe healed a long time back 🙂 Thanks for asking. And thank you so much for making my day by your thoughtful words!!

This actually described my whole week! Somedays are like that, but I love how this poem ended!
