Why it’s not too late to slim down for summer?

Summer is already here

If you’re planning to go to a beach later in the season, you may be a little anxious about the extra pounds that you may be carrying. Donning the swimwear can surely bring out the body-shaming demons in many moms out there! But don’t just assume that it’s already too late to fix this. There are plenty of things you can still do to lose some weight fast and in a healthy way before you hit the beach in July or August. Read on to learn more about a few key steps that you should start taking now to be ready for the sun, sand and the sea:

Detox your body

Detoxifying your body is not something that requires you to enter weird liquid diets or eat strange sounding exotic (Read “difficult to obtain”) food items. Instead, you just need to start consuming more of familiar foods that have detoxifying properties. This is easier to do than you might imagine. Focus on whole grains, and refreshing, seasonal foods like cucumber, watermelon, lemons etc.

At the same time, you should try to get rid of caffeine and alcohol from your diet, at least for the summer months. If you manage to do this successfully, you will see that you feel much better and rejuvenated in a very short span of time. By flushing out the toxins built up over the months, you will be doing your body a great service. No, not just to look great but also to feel good, energized and healthy.

Choose the right diet for you

Next, you need to think about your diet in more detail. Now that your body is in the right state, you will be able to start afresh. Try to focus on good, wholesome foods that will keep your body in good shape. As always, the more you stay away from processed, refined foods, the better.

You might want a diet to get the perfect beach body. Or you may be more focused on toning up and improving your muscle mass in general. Whatever the case, your food intake should be in sync with your aim. For example, if the latter is what you’re trying to achieve, ditching fat and increasing your protein intake will be vital.

Step up and do the kind of exercise you love

No matter how much attention and energy you expend on planning your diet, it will only remain half the story. Unless you step up, get moving and start doing some exercise, your physique, and your health will only be half good. So, do chalk out a workout plan even if it is only for twenty minutes a day.

Many people opt for high-intensity exercises when they want to lose weight fast. That is a good idea because it will get your heart pumping and your muscles working. This helps you to burn calories faster, which is just what you need.

However, be careful not to injure yourself going to extremes or choose an exercise you don’t enjoy doing. That will only make you more likely to give up. If the gym is difficult for you to fit into your schedule, it is a good idea to use your time with your children to be active because believe it or not, they can help you get a pretty good workout, especially in the early years.

Take steps to boost your metabolism

Your metabolism is the thing that is responsible for regulating how your body uses the energy that you put into it in the form of food. By taking steps to boost it, you will find it easier to lose weight in less time.

When you choose a diet plan to follow, you should remember that your diet should never lead to some form of starvation because that is the shortest route to a slow metabolism. As the old saying goes:

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper.

So, no matter what your body dream is, always remember to eat a healthy breakfast because this kickstarts your metabolism for the day. The same applies to other meals as well, so never skip them. Being regular with your meal times is a must too to get your digestive system synchronized with your eating schedule.

Also, you must try to avoid stress as much as possible and get a good night’s sleep without fail to avoid stress related weight gain/retention.

In leaving

Summer is a great time to be active and work on your fitness goals with rigor. And if you still feel anxious about the swimsuit season, remember this:

A bikini body is not a model’s body. It’s simply your body in a bikini.

So, go ahead and work on getting your body fit, but not at the cost of your mind. Have a great summer! 🙂
