On Change

After more than a month offline, this site is up and running again. At the surface, it may seem like nothing much has changed. And it is true to some extent. But there is change – at least a few important ones, IMO – and it would be remiss of me not to talk about them at all. So here goes the list and what it means for this site moving forward:

Privacy and Cookie Policies

If you have visited any sites on the internet recently, you must have noticed the (somewhat annoying) popups asking you to read their privacy and cookie policies. You will notice similar requests on this site as a result of EU GDPR rule being in effect since the end of May.

When it comes to privacy rights, you can rest assured that I am as much a stickler for the law as any other regular user of the internet – the bottom line being that I do not want or need the responsibility of storing your private data and would rather choose the path which leads me to keep only the bare minimum information, whether directly or via any third-party tools that this site may be using for it’s proper functioning. And if you wish to know exactly what this information/data I am talking about is, now would be a very good time to read our Privacy and Cookie policies. In any case, you can rest assured that being a small-time site, I am storing way less information than your average online publication and that too, only the data which is a must-have for this site to keep existing.

Guest and Sponsored Posts

Another change that is in effect now (and moving forward) is that there are no guest or sponsored posts on this site. To be honest, I have not done one of those in a really long time, so it’s not such a big deal. But I feel like I owe an explanation, so here it is. The main reason for me discontinuing guest and sponsored posts stems (again) from my desire to not store any information about other people and also to be not responsible for others contents. Please note that I may, from time to time, still review a book or so, but that would be purely based on the fact that I enjoyed reading it and wanted to share it with you (For example: like “The Book of Joy” that I talked about in the past).

Commenting and Subscribing

In the past, I had both commenting and mailing list subscriptions enabled on this site. That changes now. If you had subscribed to my mailing lists earlier, I owe you an apology because I am no longer storing or maintaining your mailing information. This means that moving forward, there will be no more email subscription popups or reminders for new posts in your inbox (I apologize again for no prior notice).

Also, you can no longer comment directly on this site, as commenting functionality is not available anymore. This in no way means that I am discouraging feedback or making it difficult for you to know when I post. I am merely consolidating all the different channels to primarily my Facebook and Twitter accounts. Discussions are always welcome (and encouraged/replied to) on my facebook page and twitter page. Please click on either link and Like/Follow us on FB/Twitter to keep abreast of all the happenings of this little blog (and more).

Nomenclature

Finally, some of you may have noticed that my name looks a little different on the site than before. That’s because it is!

As I was working on overhauling the blog, I finally decided to go the extra mile and reconcile my pen name with my real name. So, ta-da! I am me again. Oh goody!

Of course, it helps that finally after a billion name changes over the course of three years since kiddo nicknamed me “Daisy”, he is consistently calling me “Maa” again (rather “Maa-maa-maa-maa” in quick succession over and over again – probably to make up for the missed years). So, yeah, that is another change you will notice on the site moving forward.

In Leaving

So far so good. Right?

Okey-dokey.

Anyway, if all this has not thoroughly discouraged you from continuing to read my writing, then kudos to your resilient spirit! And thank you for sticking with me and this little blog through its metamorphosis. This change has been very unexpected, extremely unplanned, and yet quite cathartic. And moving forward, I hope that I can continue writing about the things that touch my spirit, and taking you along as I keep tumbling down the rabbit hole. Until next time, ciao, Namaste.
